A Week in Review – April 12th, 2014

Welcome back MY Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Well, I am usually here, spot on time, Saturday afternoon. I must express my apologies for my being tardy. As I will discuss, later today, in my ‘Update and Medical Status’ my pain has overcome my strength to fight. My in ability to use my hands, overcame my desire to express. I refuse to lie, or hide, my condition. Nor will I hide the ravages it reaps.

.

Right now, I can hardly move my hands and the pain in my neck is quite severe. However, I have been absent and I simply must return. Today I will do my best to provide you with this weekend’s ‘A Week in Review’ and publish it as soon as possible today, Sunday. There will not be a ‘Sunday Funnies’ coming later today. I will do my best to provide you with a ‘Coming This Week’ preview article. However, just sitting here and writing what I have so far, has caused my neck to snap and pop, uncontrollably. What I wouldn’t give for a Ghost Writer! J

.

This week I did manage to publish seven articles, including this weekly review. Next week, I have at least two appointments; a visit with an infectious Disease specialist and I am hoping to squeeze in the much needed C T Scan with contrast. Regardless, I will do my best to produce the normal number of articles and content. Thank you for your understanding and support.

.

Now, without further adieu I bring you ‘A Week in Review’:

.

  • The TRUTH about Danny… : “Dear Friends, Family and Followers at The Other Shoe and here at Facebook,
As many of you all know, my life (outside my writing at my blog) has taken a turn for the worse. My cervical spine is in a continual state of decline, pain and relentless popping grinding and decay. I do my BEST (honest, I try VERY hard) to keep a ‘Good Attitude’ and NOT to let… ‘Dark Thoughts’ past.”
Very dark, indeed. As one can easily guess my depression has been getting the best of me. I do my best to keep this monster at bay… some days I am better at it than others. I dislike laying my woes at the feet of others, it was not how I was rised. Yet, frankness with people that rely on me for entertaining content… well, I feel compelled. Compelled to advise you all of my ability to provide said content, regularly. So far, so good. However, if my health should fail… you will notice that I do not publish… produce. I am hoping that tonight, I can rest… relax and recharge my batteries, so to speak. I need to… in order to produce this coming week, and get to the appointments that I need.
  • Coming This Week, to The Other Shoe – April 6th, 2014 : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. As well, welcome to this the third edition of what is now a regular here, ‘Coming This Week’. It is in this series I preview the articles to come in the following week. Now, My Dear Readers, I am just coming off one of the single most prolific week’s in recent memory, here at The Other Shoe. With the publication of nine articles, in just seven days, last week. I have my sincere doubts of my ability to produce nine articles this week, too.” Not ambitious or anything, was I? I managed to produce just about everything I had promised, except for one article. I was unable to bring you this week’s edition of ‘The Deep Web’. Mostly because I just could not move my hands, either of them, for two days. I am on a better, stronger, pain medication. For the most part it has been an overwhelming success. However, as it is with all things there are days when even this new drug fails me. Starting late Thursday night, this failure plagued me, I found myself in terrible and unrelenting pain. This went on until earlier this morning, when I managed to find some relief. I am still finding the use of my hands… difficult, at best. I hope to be back writing everyday… soon. Thank you.
  • The Mars Report – April 7th, 2014 : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. I hope that everyone is having a Good Monday, a great start for a wonderful week. I am most pleased to announce that I have a rather nice batch of images, from Mars, to share with you today. Now, I will be the first to admit, they are not as stellar (did you get that?) as my offerings last week. Our intrepid adventurer the rover, Curiosity, has made progress and has arrived at the next waypoint, the Kimberly.” A very ambitious start to a very difficult week. The article, itself, was/is wonderful. Curiosity is making splendid progress and the images coming back are spectacular. It is this series, and ‘Lost in Space’ that are the pride and joy of this blog, The Other Shoe. In these articles… I feel… I pluck the starts from the sky, and bring them just to you! My love for the stars, and the world of space flight, is no mystery to any of you, My Dear Readers. Finding this images, researching their origin and bringing it all to you is how I share this love of space and stars, with you.
  • New from Around the World – April 8th, 2014 : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. It is time, again, my friends to take a spin around the world and see what news there is to share. Today I will touch on several and varied subjects that reach from our own personal lives to the far reaches of the globe. My Dear Readers that is the goal of this weekly article series. To expose you, My Dear Readers, to matters close to home and around the world. A better informed; family, friend(s), co-workers make for better and stronger relationships that will last generations.” With an all new logo, this article series is quickly becoming a regular here at The Other Shoe. This week I talked a bit about a Medical Travesty that I know MILLIONS of Americans were used. A lie built, in part, through limited medical knowledge and sold as a treatment for; obesity, irregularity, and even Autism. Unfortunately it is a LIE, and nothing more. I hope that EVERY American gains this knowledge, and SOON!
  • Lost In Space – April 9th, 2104 : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. My Dear Readers, it is not often that I take time to revel in my achievements, bathe in the glory of success. That changes, for today, now! Last week saw the second edition of this article series ‘Lost in Space – April 2nd, 2014’. By today, Sunday, this second edition has garnered more ‘Likes’ than the first. It is this success that I celebrate and enjoy. In the past two weeks I have painted this blog with stellar images from distances many can hardly conceive. Scrolling over my creation, I feel a sense of great joy and overwhelming pride.” Yes, it is with great pride that I present this series to you, My Dear Readers. It takes me several hours, just to find and download… then upload just the images I use each week. Then I spend another couple of hours writing up the information I have researched, and present it to you. Two of this type of series, in one blog, is more work that I knew when I started. It IS worth it, if it brings all of us closer… brings more traffic here… and brings happiness to all those who view. ENJOY!
  • The Horror in Smithville – Part Five : “At first, he thought that it was just a shadow in the room. The curtain, with the help of the breeze, causing a shadow to form… somehow. That or perhaps the curtain flew up and blocked his view. Then it formed in his vision. Like black smoke condensing and taking form, right before his eyes. It was tall! I mean really really TALL. This was the kind of tall where the person actually has to stoop over in order for him to walk in a door, or pass through a doorway. The blackness formed more clearly and Timmy saw that the figure had a black hat, on his head.” Yes, My Dear Readers, this week we all met ‘The Tall Man’. If you have yet to read this week’s installment, I will say no more… Except GO READ THIS! This installment is exciting and thrilling… and even a little scary, too. I (we) are building a great base for this story, and for many adventures in the future, too. I hope you enjoyed this week’s installment, I am already working on next week’s, too.

.

With that, My Dear Readers I bring you full circle, back to the beginning of yet another week. I promise to do my best to deliver, to bring another week’s enjoyment and thrills, right here to you.

.

I would stay a bit longer, but my hands say no! Please remember to ‘Like’ and to ‘Share’ that this the way we grow. Again, I apologize for the absence, and the brevity of this article. My left hand is in torture, and my neck sounds like a cement mixer. With that, I will take my leave…

Coming This Week To The Other Shoe – April 13th 2014

.

Daneil Hanning of The Other Shoe 2001

.

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Welcome to my weekly preview article for The Other Shoe. Each week I tip my hand and give you all, My Dear Readers, a preview of the articles I have planned for publication over the next seven days. Now, you may have noticed that the past two weeks were devoid of ‘Sunday Funnies’.

.

This is simply because Alexander has not done anything… entertaining while I had my camera handy. I apologize for this shortcoming. However, rest assured that the article series IS still viable and just as soon as my camera and his antics cross, we will have another edition of ‘Sunday Funnies’. Now, let me ask you, My Dear Readers, if there is anyone out there that is handy with a pen or pencil and paper.

.

I am looking for an amateur cartoonist or someone that is just handy with a pencil or pen. I can provide the narrative or captions, all I need is someone to provide the people… even stick figures. I am looking to replace Alexander, in the ‘Sunday Funnies’, with a weekly political cartoon or animation. If your fit the bill contact me via Facebook, this blog or any way you see fit. Joe Tilbury, if you are still out there and can still draw? Contact me, k? It pays NOTHING, so far. However, just as soon as this blog makes a profit I will cut you in for a share.

.

Now, for the upcoming week. I can promise that there will be another edition of; ‘The Mars Report’, ‘Lost in Space’, ‘The Horror in Smithville’, ‘Coming this Week’ and ‘A Week in Review’. Beyond that I am not really sure, My Dear Readers. As you all know, by now, I will do my very best to make sure I write all the regular articles. As well, when I have the time and my body is not preventing me, I will do my best to bring even more articles. I have been toying with several ‘New Series’ and bringing back so older article series.

.

‘MMORPGs And YOU!’ May well be making a come back with the arrival of ‘Elder Scrolls On Line’. Launched late last month, I have yet to be able to afford; the game, game time or any ‘Beta’ or promotional copy of the game. Unfortunately, I do not see any resolution to this dilemma on the horizon. Rest assured, just as soon as I have a copy of the game, I will get it installed, updated and get into the game. Once in-game I will make; ‘In-Game Videos’, take tons of screenshots, and write up outlines of the crafting procedures, the plot based questing and an evaluation of the PvP (player vs. player) part of the game. I really hope to get this together, for your viewing and enlightenment, just as quickly as is humanly possible.

.

The Elder Scrolls is a wonderful intellectual property. It is being brought to the MMROPG world by Zenimax and Bethesda the people that brought us one of the GREATEST RPGs of the twentieth century, ‘Fallout’ and ‘Fallout – New Vegas’. With these two companies working on the Elder Scrolls IP I have great faith it will be a very enjoyable game. I do wonder… why they didn’t convert ‘Fallout’ from RPG to MMORPG… but I will take Elder Scrolls and run with it. Now, if there is anyone that might want to sponsor my work… a benefactor to assit me obtaining the game for purposes of writing and sharing on this blog. Please contact me as I will do pretty much anything… in return for sponsorship.

.

Last, My Dear Readers, I have (already scheduled) an appointment with an Infectious Disease physician on Tuesday. I am working to get a BUN/Creatnine test scheduled on Monday or Wednesday. Further, I simply must get a C.T with Contrast scheduled as quickly as possible. My follow-up visit with Dr. Gorlick is May 6th and I would very much like to have all the results prior. If I get these tests scheduled for this week, that will put a big dent in my ability to get all regular articles written and published this week. Barring the postponement till next week, of some of the; tests, scans and appointments. Then I will be able to meet all my writing/publishing deadlines.

.

Well, My Dear Readers, that brings us to the very end of this week’s preview article. I am really looking forward to the coming week of writing and publishing. OH! I totally forgot! When it comes to Part SIX of ‘The Horror in Smithville’… remember… we left off with Timmy in a GRAVEYARD! Oui! That was quite a cliff-hanger, huh? We know that the next adventure starts in a graveyard… that has so much potential! A little spoiler… the first five parts… are the most mellow out of the whole story! Upcoming will be parts that I will assure you push the very limits of juvenile fiction. There may come a time when many of my readers… refuse to allow their children to read the work.

.

It will not be; sexual, ultra-violent… but it will be; bloody, gory and fairly violent. As I have been working out the upcoming episodes… the plot development… the character development. Well, the story is taking me in unexpected directions with unexpected results. I do promise that I will warn all readers prior to the start of an episode of any above PG-13 content. I cannot simply tell you the images, or acts, that I have planned. However, I can tell you there will be physical violence that will scare and frighten.

.

There, that brings us to the end of this wonderful preview of the articles to come in the following week at The Other Shoe. I would like to thank you for coming by and taking a look see. I hope that you enjoyed getting a ‘heads-up’ of the week to come… I hope that I can count on YOU for being here for some great reading over the next seven days.

.

ENJOY!

New from Around the World – April 8th, 2014

News from Around the World

News from Around the World

.

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. A better informed; family, friend(s), co-workers make for better and stronger relationships that will last generations.

.

Now, as promised, my very first subject is one that is very close to home; our health. Having spent a decade in clinical health care settings and home health, I find myself drawn to subjects I feel some people my be lead astray, or harmed, by engaging in their personal lives. Today I am here to debunk a very harmful misnomer about diet. Today I am here to debunk the very harmful myth of ‘Gluten Allergies’.

.

The very first myth I would like to debunk is; ‘Going Gluten-Free can CURE Autism’. I wanted to start with this myth, because I feel it is doing the most harm. Families with Autistic children can feel tremendous pressures, not the least of which social pressures. I feel it is particularly heinous and disturbing to extend a possible cure for a genetic disease by merely changing the child’s diet. FACT: There is no scientific evidence that halting an Autistic child’s gluten intake will ‘cure’ their Autism.

.

Yes, it is true that a great many Autistic children suffer with gastrointestinal problems. Sometimes, these children can experience momentary/temporary relief by removing gluten rich foods from their diets. However, as I explain below, this is only a temporary measure and that extended removal of gluten has more and far reaching negative health effects. Again, there is no scientific evidence that a ‘Gluten Free Diet’ can ‘cure’ Autism.

.

NEXT. There are several myths circling the diet blogs and community all based in misnomers and myths about a cereal gain protein that has been the human diet for the better part of 40,000 years. Gluten is contained in three cereal grains; Wheat, Barley and Rye grains. It is a protein containing fibrous material. It naturally occurs in all three of these grains, yet is separated during this refining process.

.

First, the myth that ‘a gluten free diet is a healthy diet’ created by certain health gurus that are more focused on rapid weight loss than the health and welfare of their… ‘Customers’ (more like marks, from what I have read). Yes, if you completely remove all processed food stuffs with gluten from your diet, you will experience what appears to be weight loss. What you are actually experiencing, is so far more insidious.

.

What you are experiencing is muscle mass loss! Gluten is an essential protein and dietary fiber. Once you remove this source of protein from your diet, you will see muscle loss! Your body uses protein to create and maintain muscles in your body. As well, I told you that gluten is a dietary fiber. Once you remove any source of fiber from your daily diet, you will experience… weight loss… because of the ensuing diarrhea. That’s correct, once you remove a major source of dietary fiber from a human’s diet, you will end up with loose bowels. This is because of the loss of dietary fiber but also because these ‘Gluten Free’ foods contain more; saturated FATS, and SUGARS to make up for the lost fibrous material in the baking process. SO, by engaging in and purchasing ONLY ‘Gluten Free’ products? You are increasing the amount of sugar and saturated fats while decreasing your intake of; dietary fiber and protein.

.

However, you will also experience; significant dehydration, which looks like, weight loss but is actually just massive dehydration. So, you have an unscrupulous diet guru which is placing your health in danger just to create the illusion of ‘weight loss’ while damaging your overall health. Further, the American Medical Association has concluded a study debunking the myth of ‘Gluten Allergies’[1]. As well, they have sent out millions of letters to Primary Care Physicians to stop engaging in ‘Allergy Testing’ in their offices.

.

You see, My Dear Readers, you can be allergic to wheat… or barley… or rye. One can be allergic to a certain cereal grain but there is no such thing as a ‘Gluten Allergy’[2]. Any doctor that tells you that there is (and does not refer to it as ‘Celiac Disease’) is a charlatan and you should stop seeing that doctor. You see there is a disease that, if you eat gluten bearing foods, it can cause gastro distress. However, this disease affects only ONE in every One Hundred Americans.

.

My Dear Readers, engaging in a ‘Gluten Free’ diet not directed by a doctor can cause significant health damage! I am not kidding. You are robbing your body or essential proteins and dietary fiber! That is a crime and one that I hope that I can help to stop. Understand that yes it will look like you are loosing some weight… at first! After the first few days, all you really are doing is damaging your long-term health based on a misnomer now debunked by the America Medical Association. If you have a family history of Celiac disease, have your doctor check you out and do the proper medical tests.

.

Finally, I have included links (below) to one article and one video debunking this health harming myth about ‘Gluten Allergies’. I wanted to include some scientific proof of my assertions, and they are at the end of these links. I think that it is a crime that people are actually using their (limited) medical knowledge to cause harm to their fellow man. Honestly, I believe that anyone that furthers this terrible myth, without giving all the information available, just to take advantage of people that are desperate to loose weight are criminals and should be treated as such. I really do hope that all of you, My Dear Readers, take heed of my advice, read up on the science and protect your health. Thank you.

.

Next, I take you across the Pacific ocean to the single most isolationist regimes on the face of the planet, North Korea. South Korean news sources are reporting that O Sang-hon, a deputy minister at the Ministry of Public Security, was executed by flame thrower during a continuing purge.[3] This purge started last December when the current dictator’s Uncle, Jang Song-taek, was executed. Loyalists to Mr. Jang are now being rooted up and either summarily executed or sent to political prison camps. This follows the 2012 execution by motor fire of the ‘Vice Minister of the Army’. Dictator Kim Jung-un ordered the execution saying that “no trace of him should be left behind, not even his hairs…”[4].

.

This is just a continuation of the harsh, and at times sick, dictatorship of Kim Jung-un, son of the late Kim Jung-ill. North Korea is the single most backward industrialized nation on the planet. It is the only such nation with no internet access for its people. As well, astronauts traveling in the shuttle and/or the International Space Station say that when they pass over it at night, the country is completely devoid of any sources of light. It is said that the northern par of the Korean continent is a black hole in the continent. IMHO executing a person, regardless of their crime, by flamethrower is… well, it is sickening for sure… but it violates any sense of common decency.

.

Now, for some news… from, what I would call, the bizarre bag of news. This story comes out of Germany, today. Elements of Germany’s Right-Wing Extremist Neo-Nazi(s) are using… … … (wait for it…) The Cookie Monster to spread their hateful propaganda. That’s right, good ol’Frank Oz’s cookie eating creation has been corrupted and used to stand with, and for, Neo-Nazi and racist propaganda. If you haven’t really read much about Germany, in the past couple of decades, there are far ‘Right-Wing Extremeists’ that are having real difficulties with the changing racial make-up of modern day Germany.

.

Falling back on, banned, images of Adolf Hitler, and adopting much of the dictator’s (and the ‘Third Reich’s’) hate filled prejudiced rhetoric. Two German men, both in their thirties, have been arrested by police in conjunction with the crimes. They had been dressing in a Cookie Monster outfit and handing out leaflets that claimed ‘To be German is Cool!”. Following the arrest homes of the two men were searched and computers were found that had more Neo-Nazi materials on their hard drives. One of the images, found on the computers, was of Adolf Hitler and the Cookie Monster with the caption “Who Ate My Cookie?” Meant to allude to ‘ill-legals’ taking food from the mouth’s of German (white) citizens.

.

The use of the Cookie Monster is seen as just another new way of spreading their message of “Volkstod,” or “National Death” campaign. This is how these ‘Right-Wing Extremists’ is used to describe what they believe as the degradation of the German society my multi-nationalism.

.

These extremists are trying to trivialize their dangerous ideology by using simple language, by creating ironic cartoons and by increasingly using social media to reach adolescents,…” [5]

.

And, in our final story for the day we take a trip to South America, Brazil to be exact. If you are not a follower of soccer, or the ‘World Cup’ you might not be aware that the competition is headed for Brazil! With the coming of this great honor the legal authorities in many of Brazil’s major cities are working together to crack down on child prostitution. Prostitution, for anyone over the age of 18, is completely legal in Brazil. However, child prostitution is not, but is prevalent in many of the major cities in Brazil.

.

Now, the government of Brazil has promised to eradicate child prostitution prior to the arrival of The World Cup competitions. This is no easy task, I have to tell you. According to estimates made by ‘National Forum for the Prevention of Child Labor’ there are a Half Million child sex workers in Brazil. The city of Fortaleza[6] in Brazil, is seen as the capital of the child sex industry. Many planes and charters have Fortaleza as their destinations with the resorts there acting as hubs for child sex.

.

There is widespread poverty in Brazil and few opportunities for education. There are many opportunities to make money, “easy money” (according to statements made by many of these children) in underage prostitution. Honestly, if you have ever read anything about Brazil, studied the history of the country or had visitors from Brazil, you would already know of the ‘Boys of Brazil’. That child prostitutions is/has been a huge problem for Brazil for many decades. European underground sex services offer sex tours in Brazil, featuring stops in cities like Fortaleza. The city police and the government of Brazil are stating that they will have the child sex trade halted in time for the beginning of the World Cup competitions.

.

However, if you ask the children on the streets and even the legal prostitutes, you will hear a different story. Their story is that they may succeed in getting the children off of the street corners, and out of the city centers but that the trade is so very prevalent it is unlikely they will end the child sex trade. Local police are cracking down on the underage street trade, local and national organizations are running new ads on local and statewide television. These ads explain the tougher enforcement and threaten severe penalties for continued trade.

.

Only time will tell if Brazil can finally take a substantial bite out of their child sex trade. I, for one, am hopeful that they will take measure to assure that this trade does not flourish, again, just as soon as all the footballers leave town. Truthfully, if more opportunities for education and employment are not created in Brazil? There really is no hope of ending this sick and deviant trade.

.

Well, My Dear Readers, that grings us to the end of another edition of ‘New from Around the World’. I would like to thank everyone for dropping by and sharing some time with me. I hope that everyone is having a safe and productive week. Be sure to drop by tomorrow for a new edition of ‘The Mars Report’ right here at ‘The Other Shoe’.

Coming This Week – March 30/31st, 2014

The Other Shoe's Daniel Hanning

The Other Shoe’s Daniel Hanning 2/2014

Welcome back My Dear Reader to The Other Shoe. Well now, I would usually write and publish this article on Monday. Yet, something just caught my eye, and I just had to share it with you, My Dear Readers. If you are reading this article on Sunday March 30th, 2014 (or have visited and read articles between Friday March 28th and Sunday March 30th), you are taking part in the single largest influx of visitors my blogs have ever seen. Yes, I have two locations for The Other Shoe. The primary blog located at blog.com and secondary located at wordpress.com. I saw secondary only because it was the second location of my blog launched. Remember, I do everything at both blog locations. Writing, editing, publishing, promotions… everything.

.

On Friday March 28th, the secondary location (at wordpress.com) reached an all time high at eighteen visitors in one day. The following day, March the 29th, my primary blog location (blog.com) had an all time high of twenty-two visitors in one day. Yes, I know… in the grand scheme of things… that is not a lot of visitors. Although, for a my blog… Well, I am proud to announce this news. See, I have Google Analytics monitoring my blog.com location and the sister location at WordPress provides their own analytics, that I check regularly. For those of you, My Dear Readers, that have been with me for awhile, two or more years out of the past four.

.

You will know that I used to publish a series of articles where I shared the results of the analytics. I did this for three years, then I just stopped. I am not too sure as to why. Honestly, it always felt a bit too much like… bragging. Showing off and… well, that is just not me. I am proud when my efforts merit. However, and you can ask anyone that I went to Middle, High School or college with… I do not like to brag, about myself.

.

I am very proud of the traffic I experienced this week, at both blogs. Now, I have worked extremely hard these past three weeks at writing and publishing quality content on a regular basis. Just over the past three weeks I have introduced FOUR new article series. I hope that it is these new articles series that are driving this increase in traffic, and not some factor that I cannot replicate.

.

Now, I would like to share with you, My Dear Readers, what I have planned for the coming week, here at The Other Shoe. Monday, would have… should have seen the publication of this article. However, since I wanted everyone to know (they are part of a historic weekend of traffic), I am not really sure exactly what I will write… tomorrow. I would not be surprised if you saw a new edition of ‘The Mars Report’ or ‘Lost in Space’. Let me tell you all that those two series are the most difficult for me to publish. Writing them is not very difficult. In fact, I greatly enjoy creating the narrative for the images I choose. It is the; downloading of, uploading of, embedding of, and choosing of these images that is quite difficult. I am not complaining, just explaining.

.

This week you, My Dear Readers, will be privy to; an all new episode of ‘The Horror in Smithville’. The boys have… fallen… yeah, right… ‘fallen’ to sleep… and we all know what happens when young boys fall asleepon a rainy night full of thunder and lightening. Next, you will be treated with a new edition of (both); ‘The Mars Report’ and ‘Lost in Space’. Well, that is what I have written right here in my day planner for writing. Yes, I have a writing schedule written out in my day planner.

.

Coming up next will be an all new issue of ‘The Deep Web’. This edition will get a bit more technical, and once done… you will be better prepared to venture into the dark and deep web than ever before. Finally, you will enjoy another episode of your regulars; ‘A Week in Review’ and ‘Sunday Funnies’. Now, I think that I have mentioned it before, I am looking for a political cartoonist. I simply cannot pay, but anyone that would like the practice and exposure for their work, I am looking for someone to add to my ‘Sunday Funnies’ with political cartoons.

.

That brings us to the end of the week of articles, and to the end of this preview of the coming week. FYI – Wednesday afternoon I do have a doctor’s appointment to look at a… ‘growth’ on my jawbone. If that goes poorly… it may negatively impact my writing schedule. However, if it goes well.. then I just might be of the temperament to write additional works not mentioned in this preview.

.

Well, My Dear Readers that brings us to the end of this week’s ‘Coming This Week’. I hope that you have all enjoyed the previews of what is to come… and I hope that you all enjoy the fact that (if you are here on Sunday) you, My Dear Readers, have been part of the single largest influx of visitor traffic in the history of my blogs.

.

As always I am deeply honored that you came here and read my work.

.

Thank YOU!

A Week in Review – March 29th, 2014

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Well, if it is Saturday then it is time for… … … that’s right, ‘A Week in Review’! And what a week it’s been for you and for me right here at The Other Shoe. We started two all new articles series with; ‘Coming This Week!’ and ‘Lost in Space’. Not to think that we have thrown out all the old, just to make room for the new. We had; ‘The Deep Web – Part Two’ and ‘The Horror in Smithville – Part Three’. If I say so, myself, all in all a busy week indeed!

.

Now, for all of you, My Dear Readers, that are just too busy during the week to read? This is the place to be. Here at ‘A Week in Review’ I post links to all the articles of the week. AS well, I include a short excerpt from the article and a little insight into the origin of the article or some other personal notes. Really, that means that everyone that checks out this series, gets a little more information and insight than those that just read during the week. Making you, a very special My Dear Reader… indeed.

.

So, see as there is quite a bit of content to cover, in this issue, I will cut this introduction a little short and get right to the meat of things. Without further adieu, here is ‘A Week in Review’!

  • Sunday Funnies March 23rd, 2014 : “That means that Alex is down to the dregs of his food supply. Long gone are the crunchy corn meal squares he so enjoys. He is out of hazelnuts and down to peanuts and the little tiny bits of food left at the bottom of the bag. Unfortunately, for Alexander, Allen and I are quite bereft of funds to purchase a new bag of ‘Macaw Parrot Food – Kaytee’.” Thanks to the generosity of a very good friend, Alexander got his new bag of ‘Macaw Parrot Food by Kaytee earlier this week. Alexander is very grateful to you, you know who you are… J So, there is no more scrounging around in the bottom of a mostly empty bag of food, and this week Alexander had all of the tidbits and treats he so much enjoys. This Sunday… well, I managed to capture it… You will have to look very close… but I got some footage of Alexander… cleaning his paws on my sheets! Never had a rat do this quite like Alexander, before… it is unique and it make him quite unique, too. ENJOY!
  • Coming THIS Week at The Other Shoe – March 24th, 2014: “This series will be brief. In it I will preview what articles you can come to expect, in the following week. This way all of you, My Dear Readers, can make plans to drop by and read upcoming favorites like; ‘The Horror in Smithville’, ‘The Deep Web’, and ‘The Mars Report’. Knowing that a ‘new’ episode of your favorite article will peak interest, and (hopefully) improve traffic.” And that it seemed to do just fine, indeed. Traffic is up here at The Other Shoe, and that is always a welcome trend. Therefore, I will be continuing this series of previews of the articles to come, in the coming week. This is/was one of the all new articles that came this week. I really put on my ‘Thinking Cap’ and knocked one out of the park, I did. The articles just seem better, the writing… just a bit crisper… and the feeling, well much more jubilant, indeed. We are off to a great start, for the second four years… and the next 400 articles. On with the show!
  • The Mars Report – March 24th, 2013: “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe and ‘The Mars Report’ for March 24th, 2014. With the lost airliner in Asia, the turmoil brewing in the Ukraine, it is difficult to pull our eyes away from all this disaster and look to the skies. However, that is exactly what I did today, and what I am asking you MY Dear Readers to do for the next few moments. Actually, it is comforting to think that not all of our human condition is pain and suffering of other humans. Though it occupies little real estate in; newspapers, Television reporting, cable news networks and even blogs.” This was a smashingly great episode of ‘The Mars Report’. With looks back at where we have been, from overhead in orbit and the ‘MastCam’, too. With spring coming to the Martian surface, we are seeing many sights that only come, one time a year. From sand dunes that look like communicator badges from ‘Star Trek’, to striking pictures of thawing tops to more snad dunes. With the addition of ‘Lost in Space’ this blog has taken a marked turn towards the heavens. I always have looked to the starts, for inspiration and more. Seems my basic impulses have served me well, indeed.
  • The Deep Web – Part Two: “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Welcome back to my ongoing series about ‘The Deep Web’, Part Two. First, a little review of some of the material we have already covered.” That we did, review. Then moved on to the most important of all, the ‘Rules of the Raod’. The majorly improatant Do’s and Don’ts of surfing in unsafe territories. If you haven’t, then do you must, read! This issue is the most important to review and read. If I might suggest, this one would be good to print out and keep… by the computer, when ever you desire a venture into ‘The Deep Web’, you go. Serve you well, these rules will, if far from the trodden path your ventures take you.
  • March 25th Personal Update and Video: “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Late last week I made a video in celebration of the publication of my 400th article and FOUR YEARS of writing and publishing here at The Other Shoe. I am really happy and very proud of these two accomplishments. Writing was a skill that I picked up late in life, and have run with since day one. This first four years, and first four hundred articles, is just a beginning for me.” Not even noticed, did I that I misspelled ‘Update’ in the title, till now. Oui! I have been quite busy… ‘nose to the grindstone’ even. Well, every once in awhile I like to make a video and show. I am still kicking and that a drug addict, I have not become. So, take a vidie, and enjoy!
  • Lost in Space #1 – March 26th, 2014: “Welcome back MY Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today, and with this article, I am launching a brand-new series of articles for The Other Shoe. As you can see from the title of this article the name of this all-new series is ‘Lost in Space’. Yes, I lifted the name from a TV series I very much enjoyed as a boy. However, every month I find more and more articles, about space, that just do not fit into ‘The Mars Report’. Therefore, from this day forward every article about space exploration, space flight, experimentations and space flight, the potential commercial colonization of Mars, and/or any other article I find about space will be found here every week in ‘Lost in Space’.” Very well received, this article was, by you, My Dear Readers. I just had so much more material, from space, that I was dying to share. Create an all new article series, just for you (and the material I had laying about). It went over well, and was not that hard to complete. Therefore, there is a good chance it will be back, in weeks to come. I just love looking at images from space. Time, I seem to make, in every week to see something new. I look forward to sharing even more, in the weeks and months to come. I look forward to seeing you, My Dear Readers, here too!
  • The Horror in Smithville – Part Three: “Yes, I do give a lot of thought to what I am going to write during the day. No, I do not set out dialogue or paragraphs. I see it as it happens, in my mind. Take tonight’s dinner, I saw this dinner several times over the past two weeks, in my mind. However, things happened when I wrote it that I did not see until I sat down today and put voice to program. This story is just growing out of me and I am very much enjoying this process.” I am most happy to say, that this story just keeps growing out of me. I sit down to write a story, and out it comes all fun and ready. This week I have yet to come to gore, nor blood. However, this week we did get quite a little scare! I must say, from what my dreams, and day-dreams, show… this coming week… will likely scare you half to death. Be ready!
  • Words of WARNING!: “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today is Friday, as such this (according to my all ‘new’ writing schedule) is a ‘free’ day. Meaning I leave the day open so that I can write what strikes me, or more on a story that has dominated the week’s news. Quite honestly? The missing airliner… while my thoughts and prayers go out to all those lost… I fear it might be months before we have any kind of closure… maybe even next year with the building winter season and winter weather rapidly closing in on the search teams.” Fridays are an ‘Open Day’ here at my blog. That means that on Fridays I can write what ever takes my whim. Most of the time I write politics, of the continuation of a popular articles from the week. This week, I opened up and shared, with you. Grave concerns I have, about just how sfae any and all of our financial information, is. You see, visiting ‘The Deep Web’ I am hearing… things. Things that worry me so. Worry me with concerns of safety. Safety of our banking and credit and financial everything, I am concerned. You see… there are lots… and lots… and LOTS of people that would like nothing more… than to just burn it all down. Make everybody’s money… GO AWAY! This worries me greatly, indeed. Therefore, I have taken a day, and an article, to share these concerns, and more. Shared, I did, how to make sure you stay safe. How to protect, how to keep safe. Read, and be informed.

.

Well, My Dear Readers, that brings us to the end. The end of another week’s articles, and this wonderful review. Oh, you know that I will be back, soon. I never can seem to stay away. FYI NINE articles, I did write and publish, this week! Weee!

.

Tomorrow, a couple of shorts… of Alexander cleaning his hands! He does it in such a cute way. I hope that you drop by and take a look… see.

.

ENJOY!

The ‘Putin-Love’ Syndrome of the Far Right

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. This weekend, Sunday to be exact, the people of the Crimea voted. They voted, nearly unanimously, to separate the province of Crimea from the Ukraine (as it has been since the end of the second world war) and become a part of Russia. This happens on the heels of the majority of the people in the Ukraine seeking to sever ties with Russia and become a part of the European Union. If completed, this loss of the Ukraine, would stand as the single greatest loss of land mass to Russia since the end of the United Soviet Socialist Republic (U.S.S.R.).

.

United Soviet Socialist Republic 1984

United Soviet Socialist Republic 1984

.

IN September of 2008 the state of Georgia (in eastern Russia) sought to separate from the former soviet republic, too.  Russian President Vladimir Putin sent troops, into the sovereign nation of Georgia, to prevent the will of the people becoming a reality. Twice, in the past six years, President Putin has engaged in what can only be seen as a ‘dictatorial land grab’ by a tyrannical leader. This is how the majority of the international community sees these actions. As well, this is how these two incidents are seen by; N.A.T.O. and the United Nations.

.

When the USSR collapsed, America clapped. We patted each other on the back, in a self-congratulatory move for “ending the cold war”. Vladimir Putin has been the President of Russia since 7 May 2012. He previously served as President from 2000 to 2008. As well, he served as Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000 and again from 2008 to 2012.[1] Not since the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. (and the end of the ‘Cold War’) has the world seen ‘land grabs’ by Russia of this size. To the majority of people who study foreign affairs, international affairs, and Russia, one thing is completely obvious.

.

Under the dictatorial direction of President Vladimir Putin Russia is using military force to try and cobble together the old U.S.S.R.. More troubling is how certain elements in America are ignoring the risks to the European Union, and the states that wish to leave Russia, and glamorizing President Putin for political gain here in America. In their efforts to turn everything against President Obama, at all costs. These media outlets, and their talking heads, are putting President Putin on a pedestal and demeaning President Obama by comparison. Listening to one cable network, Fox ‘News’, I have heard their anchors state that “President Putin wrestles bears and tigers, while President Obama wears Mom-pants”. [I will be the first to admit I have no idea what “Mom pants” are, but this term is being used in an insulting fashion towards our sitting President]. First, the truth about tiger that President Putin ‘killed’.

.

She was tranquillized, placed in a snare and forced to lie in wait as the infamously tardy leader got to the site, according to the International Fund for Animal Welfare. After Putin inspected the big cat, helping to place a GPS satellite collar on it and, reportedly, giving it a kiss, Serga was taken on the long drive back to the Khabarovsk zoo. In the days that followed, the rare tiger died, unable to recover from the three tranquillisers used by scientists during the PR stunt.”[2]

.

I have researched this incident through several news outlets in Europe and each telling of the truth is essentially the same and sticks to the facts presented above. Propaganda in RUSSIA? Goes together like baseball and apple pie, in America. Yet, I have witnessed, several times with my own eyes and ears, anchors on various Fox ‘News’ shows present President Putin as a “man who wrestles tigers and bears, to death!” Well, now, if that were all we were talking about I would just look the other way and say (to myself) “anyone that believes what they are saying… without verifying the validity of these statements… likely would believe anything…” and let it go.

.

It is so much worse than it appears. The continual repeating of these falsehoods, the use of these falsehoods to glamorize a leader (likely) guilty of invading sovereign nations, the cold blooded murder of “dissidents” in Georgia and the Ukraine and Crimea, the use of Russian troops to quash free elections, and multiple violations of human rights. To place this man on a pedestal, and then to conversely ridicule and insult President Obama as; “not being a man, like President Putin” , “making America weak in the face of a great leader like President Putin”, and “President Putin rides horses bareback and shirtless while President Obama wears mom-pants”? This is not just a matter of ‘poor values” or using opportunistic comparisons based on falsehoods to damage the reputation of our sitting President. No, this graduates to a higher and more heinous level of rhetoric, this borders on treasonous. You see, there is a huge difference (in this given situation) between the exercises of freedom of speech and what is happening with these anchors and this network. Let me see if I can do my best at explaining and, at the same time, do my level best to not insult those that choose to watch this network.

.

See, that is the difference in my approach (today, as compared to previous perceptions of my writing) and I am making a conscious and deliberate effort to alter and improve how I communicate. I do not want, either with intent or by accident, to insult or demean anyone just because of decisions made on which channel to watch. I, firmly, believe that a person is not defined by what they choose to watch, unless they chose to let their decisions define.

.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected President of the United States a record four times. The whole time he was in office he was unable to walk on his own due to neurological losses associated with polio. His entire time in the White House F.D.R. used a wheelchair to get around, or was carried. However, in the more than a decade in office no media outlet ever took photographs of him in a wheelchair or being carried. These media outlets certainly had the opportunity, the means yet they did not! (Except fro one photo made public in his last term in office, ONE photo in more than twelve years) WHY?

.

Why did all the; newspapers, News Reel, movie cameras and radio reporters not make an issue of his disability? My Dear Readers, be you a reader in America, or England, Hong Kong or Cyprus, Spain or Iceland you all know that today every single media outlet would try to get as many compromising photos as they could possibly publish… and they would publish every single one they obtained. The more revealing, the better. WHY!?!

.

Respect for the Office of President of the Untied States of America! Further, these reporters, cameramen, photographers all understood that if you; attack, demean, belittle, or weaken the image of a sitting President you do harm to the office of President and you weaken America in the eyes of the international community, and leaders. They understood that any momentary (fleeting) political gain would be far outweighed by the damage such photographs would do to our standing as a NATION. You simply cannot do harm to the man, without doing harm to the office.

.

These news professionals understood the meaning of this quote;

.

“Partisan politics stops at the water’s edge.”  (in 1947, at the start of the Cold War, Vandenberg became chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Asserting that we must stop “partisan politics at the water’s edge,” he cooperated with the Truman administration in forging bipartisan support for the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan, and NATO.)[3]

.

This discretion is essential for our nation to operate effectively in international politics. IN 1947 Vandenberg, and; reporters, newspaper editors, radio reporters, and all professional members of the fourth estate clearly understood that to undermine the man, is to undermine the office. That, by undermining the office you do (at the very least) a grave injustice to your nation and (at worst) expose your nation to grave harm and even invasion by making our nation appear weak in the international community. I have an old saying

.

Perception dictates reality.”

.

It is my humble opinion that these networks, in seeking to make themselves look better by making our President appear weak are doing harm to our nation, to the office of President of the United Sates, and even empowering President Putin’s illegal and immoral actions in the international community. That this political schadenfreude[4] was not practiced in our recent political past because the reporters of the day understood the consequences of their actions and placed nationalism and the ‘Good of the Nation’  ahead of party popularity, polls, and network standing. That we could do well by taking a lesson from the past and put the lives of the people of the Ukraine, the international strength of our nation and the betterment of our world ahead of; network ratings, party loyalty, personal agendas and hyper-partisanship.

.

Now, let me be clear. I do not believe that anyone is seeking to do harm to our nation. I do not believe that these anchors and guests, speakers and hosts are (with forethought and malice) seeking to weaken America’s standing in the world community. I do not believe that these people are traitors and are willingly exposing our; troops, foreign dignitaries, and state department negotiators and officials to potential danger to their lives and/or the lives of their staff. I do not think that they are doing it willingly and with forethought or malice. However, I do strongly believe that their actions, their words, these ‘comparisons’ between a law abiding President Obama and the Russian President (that invades sovereign nations in an obvious effort to reconstitute the former soviet nation as Russia). are reckless! Their actions undermine credibility.

.

The cerdibility of; Our Secretary of State, our Diplomats, our Military Leaders, the Vice President and President Obama and The Office of President of these United States. These reckless anchors, hosts, ‘talking heads’ do engage in hyperbole that is wrongheaded and can cost lives! This is why Vandenberg warned “Partisna politics stops at the water’s edge.” Especially during; times of war, times hightened security, and during international invasions of soverign nations (like the situation in the Ukraine, today). My Dear Readers, if I understand and realize this reality of politics and governance? I know that these media; reporters, hosts, anchors and ‘talking heads’ realize the same. Like the impaired judgement brought on by avarice, the reckless disregard and malice of shadenfreude, this overwhelming desire to side with (potentially) criminal elements of another nation’s government just to (sophomorically) ‘put down’ the President of the United States is the ultimate in poor judgement that can/may cost lives! It is a bell that cannot be ‘unrung’, and there bloodlust for ratings and juvenille craving for shocking shadenfreude sets in motion actions with terrible consequence. Especially during times of internatinal instability, times of United Nations sanctions aginst member nations, and in the light of emergency meetings of the U.N. Security Council? That is the absolute worst time for school yeard taunts focused on our heads of states, and the President. “Partisan politics stops at the water’s edge.” One simple rule to follow to help assure the safety of all Americans… and the world.

.

Russian Map Post USSR Breakdown

.

Further, I believe that we individuals should exercise great care. Exercise great care when it comes to placing party loyalty ahead of the betterment of our nation, and at the possible detriment of America’s international image. That, as Americans, we should exercise caution when; parroting rhetoric, devoting your viewer ship to, and supporting behaviors that can/do cause to undermine America’s standing in the international community. To understand that the people working in the State department and in our international talks and with NATO and the United Nations are not/ should not be targets for hyper-partisan rhetoric just for momentary social or political gain.

.

That, in so doing, we act to jeopardize the very ideals we all hold dear and undermine the credibility of our nation on the international stage. My Dear Readers, I cannot tell you just how damaging talk… ‘loose talk’, like what we all see on this network and like networks works to undermine our national standing. I cannot tell you just how many times I have seen, in international games and threads and postings, intelligent and respected people of other (allied) nations question the motives of Americans engaged in this type of hyper-partisan rhetoric undermining/damaging the Office of President of the United States.

.

That even, unwitting, detrimental remarks made to make some Republican ‘look better’ via  schadenfreude directed at our sitting President. All too often, intelligent citizens of our foreign allies are taken aback by the overt and (even) sophomoric taunts and insults. They do not understand how any Americans could actually take sides against our sitting President by favoring (what Putin is predominately seen as) a violator of human rights, invader of sovereign nations, and someone seeking to bring back the U.S.S.R. in the 21st century. We Americans must exercise greater caution. WE must put aside the sophomoric tactics, shutdown the hyper-partisanship and act/speak/think with putting our nation’s best interests first.

.

We, America/Americans, did act deliberately in our recent past. We understood what it meant to put our nation ahead of party loyalty. We understood that “Loose lips, sink ships.” Let us not wait until it is too late, and the dogs of war are howling at our door before we tone down our rhetoric and think of the long term effect of our words and actions. I have faith in America, and Americans. I genuinely believe that if people fully understand the potential detriment that this type of hyper-partisan rhetoric has in our international affairs. That all Americans can and will act responsibly.

.

I do not seek to cause further divides within our great nation. Honestly, I believe that if we work to tone down these hyper-partisan and hyperbolic types of rhetoric? It will work to bring our nation closer. I believe it is these walls of words that create the illusion of separation when, in reality, none exists. That the few seek to profit from proffering and building these imaginary walls of separation between Americans. That, we the people, are better than what we are lead to believe of ourselves. The true power of America lies in the hands of the average American. Working together, there is nothing that we cannot do, we can bring harmony to the places plagued with partisanship.

.

America deserves better, and working together we can give it to ourselves and to our posterity.

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here and read my work.

.

Thank YOU!

.

P.S. In a nut shell, I am pointing out HOW elements of the Republican party (the “Far Right’) will befriend and galmorize MURDEROUS TYRANTS just to further their effots to besmerch President Obama. As well, it is to the DETRIMENT of our nation that this ilk REFUSES to ‘Halt Partisan Politics at the Water’s Edge’! This idea was EMBRACED back in 1917, yet here in the 21st century… such a simple and FUNDEMENTAL law of politics and governance… ESCAPES Repubicans. just TODAY Senator John McCain was FORCED to backpeddle, from his ‘Putin-Love’ and side WITH President Obama.

A Week in Review March 8th, 2014

.

Daniel Hanning of The Other Shoe

Daniel Hanning of The Other Shoe

.

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. This has been an exciting and eventful week, for me and this blog. First, this is the very first week, since my crippling upper respiratory infection, that I have met the goal of publishing five or more articles. I am quite proud to be producing content near the same level as prior to the infection and my extended absence. Whereas I am still experiencing fevers, nightly, and chills and aches. I am on the mend and I am hoping to return to full health, soon.

.

Further ‘Good News’ is that I finally ‘Pulled the Trigger’ on publishing horror. For the very first time, since I was a boy typing on a very old Smith/Corona typewriter, in my garage on Francis Street in Pearland Texas. I have written my first venture into the genre of horror. Now, My Dear Readers, do not expect something like those ‘Vampire’ movies with the glowy vampires and werewolves with washboard abs. My story is not that kind of horror. Honestly, I read some of those novels and they struck me more like middle school soft-core porn… than horror novels.

.

If I were forced to characterize my style of horror writing? I would characterize my style as a cross between Mark Twain and Stephen King. J You will find much more suspense and a lot less blood and gore. I have chosen a small town in middle America and two twelve year old young men as my lead characters. Again, I do this because I want to enter into young adult horror and young adult science fiction. I do not have plans for staying writing for young adults. As I refine my style and once I am published this will change and mature.

.

This has been a very good week for my writing and publication. I am far from having the same level of traffic as before my illness. Looking at the traffic reports, prior to my illness I was averaging about two dozen visitors each day! For me, and my little blogs, that was fantastic! I will be working just as hard as I can, as hard as my health will allow to work back up to that level, again. You, My Dear Readers, can help! You can ‘Share’ on social media. ‘Share’ links to my articles, ‘Share’ links to my blogs and ‘Like’ my articles and my blogs. I am using; Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit, Twitter and Pinintrest. ANY sharing of links to my blog and/or articles on these social media sites will greatly help the exposure of my blogs.

.

Finally, any assistance… of any kind is greatly appreciated. I apologize for this solicitation for assistance. One person has, from the kindness of his heart, reached out and gave me a hand up. You see, My Dear Readers, that is all I have ever asked for… that is all I will ever ask for is a hand… up. If I were able to work… If my doctors would release me… If there were not a strong probability of me sustaining grave and even life threatening injury via work… I would work! However, my doctors will not release me, and I am in no condition to work. One slip… one fall could… would likely result in either para/quadriplegia. NO ONE wants to end up getting sued if/when  fall. I understand, and I am not bitter or angry.

.

Therefore, I do my best to write and publish on my blogs. I hope and dreams are that I manage to write and post something that catches the eye of someone with connections in, or is themselves, publishing. I am realistic in that I have no dreams of ‘getting rich’ with what I do. I think and hope only to find a way to help my financial situation via writing. That and selling what little personal possessions I have left via eBay. As you can see at the end of every article I include a link to my eBay site for sale of said items. Any help… is greatly appreciated. For anyone that may want to help outside eBay? Message me via; Facebook (I have a Facebook Discover Card that  allows me to purchase food and anything @ Target), my blogs, or via eBay or my email (Enzomatrixlt@gmail.com)

.

Now, without further adieu ‘A Week in Review’ for the week ending March 8th, 2014!

.

  • ·        Trouble in the Ukraine – Part One : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. For the past several months I have watched the people of the Ukraine battle elements of the corrupt government. From the pages of Time I have seen the street-by-street fighting in Kiev. To date, hundreds of ‘protesters’ have lost their lives at the hands of militant members of the now defunct government. I say “defunct government” because Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has been chased from the capital, ousted by the people.” This was/is my very first article explaining and sharing my opinion about the conflict in the Ukraine. I have included maps, insight and quotes from many sources. I do my best to keep objective and not to engage in partisan politics when writing about foreign affairs. I hold with the assertion of Senator Arthur A. Vandenberg. “In 1947, at the start of the Cold War, Vandenberg became chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Asserting that we must stop “partisan politics at the water’s edge,””[1] I see and listen to individuals seeking personal, social and political gain by parroting hyperbolic rhetoric about the problems in the Ukraine. I read and listen to these individuals take swipes at a sitting President over an international crisis, and in doing they do grave harm to international relations that they (OBVIOUSLY) do not understand. It sickens me.
  • ·        Trouble in the Ukraine – Part Two :  “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. As promised when the situation changed I told you I would update you, My Dear Readers. Russia has made a fatal mistake, in the Ukraine. As of Sunday morning Russian military troops have moved into the Crimea province of the Ukraine.” This the second edition in my series dealing with the crisis in the Ukraine. It is my informed and considered position that the people of the Ukraine should be allowed (if not encouraged) to pursue their desire of membership in the European Union.
  • ·        Trouble in the Ukraine – Part Three : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. First a little personal update, this morning I woke up to a fever… again. It was 99.8 degrees when I woke up and 101.2 by noon. Last night I had the raspy… water-like sounds in my chest, again. I took all the antibiotics, just as prescribed, and this crud has returned anyway. I ache all over, fevers just drive me nuts, and the coughing is starting up.” At this point I am experiencing a relapse of my illness. My fever is back and rising, my raspy breathing and aches have returned. This, on top of the pain and suffering from my cervical condition… it, at times, just too much… especially with less and less food.
  • ·        Trouble in the Ukraine – Part Four : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. As promised here is the most recent information on the Ukraine. In an obvious reaction to President Obama’s public statements that

“President Putin is on the wrong side of history”[1]

along with growing pressure from the international community and the majority of the G20 leaders, President Putin has blinked. The world is still awash in mixed messages, and in that regard President Putin is creating other (more personal) concerns… that I will address towards the end of this article. However, Tuesdya’s military actions is clear.” As anyone can clearly see… evidenced by the typo of Tuesday… and my not noticing nor correcting… to this point (my apologies) that my condition is/has worsened. I still hold with the opinion that the Crimea should NOT be allowed to separate from the greater Ukraine.

  • An Introduction to HORROR at The Other Shoe : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today is Tuesday March 4th, 2014. As many of you are aware, two weeks ago I suffered, greatly, with high fevers, a painful and deep raspy cough, terrible aches, pains, and sleepless nights all due to a horrific upper respiratory infection. My doctor, once again proving what a great doctor and partner he is in the care of my health, prescribed a ten day course of antibiotics. I took all the medication, and at the end I honestly felt I had beat this infection.” Still in the grave grips of a vicious infection and battling fevers, I set about the task of making good on a promise. A promise I made to you, My Dear Readers, to write and share a work of horror here at The Other Shoe. I made good on this promise, and I intend to keep publishing every week more episodes.
  • Trouble in the Ukraine – Part Five : “Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. Today, in Paris, leaders from the European Union, the United States, Russia and the Ukraine meet to tamp down mounting tensions and rhetoric. The European Union has prepared an aid package worth $15 billion dollars, to help replace funds looted from the Ukrainian treasury, shortly before the corrupt leaders were ousted.” With this article I bring this series to an end. It appears that the situation will resolve without massive intervention by America. As well, it has become clear that President Putin is doing grave harm to his standing in the international community.
  • The Horror in Smithville : “Timmy was grinning, from ear to ear, as he walked into the kitchen. Timmy was grinning because he knew he had the easy chore and Archer, on the other hand, was what left with a mighty big chore indeed. See, what Archer didn’t realize was that Timmy’s Mom, Margaret, looked on Archer as her second son. When Archer’s family had moved here they were living hand to mouth, week to week, paycheck to paycheck. Margaret was a good Christian woman and she went out of her way to help out Archer, and his family, every day and in every way she could. Honest to goodness in the past 12 years Archer had taken as many meals sitting at Timmy’s side, under her roof, as he had in his own home. Margaret loved cooking for Archer, and Archer was the most polite, and genuinely grateful, guest. Archer was given to multiple and exuberant compliments and thanks. Margie could just tell that Archer’s thanks and compliments were genuine and heartfelt. She was confident that Timmy just couldn’t have a better and more supportive friend than Archer.” Again, I would like to express (to you, My Dear Readers) my deep and heartfelt apology for publishing this article without taking the time to properly correct my mistakes. I used my ‘Speech-to-text’ software and it made far more mistakes that I thought. Today, Saturday, I went through the entire episode and I believe that I have found and corrected all my mistakes. My Dear Readers, this horror story is going to be GREAT! I have a lot of great ideas that I am going to work into this story. There will be a lot of character development, suspense, and thrilling moments. There will not be a lot of gore, blood or violence. I do hope that you Share, SHARE, SHARE! It is only via sharing that my traffic will increase and more people will gain introduction to my horror writing and my blogs. Thank YOU!
  • Horror Story and Status Update 3-8-2014:  “Unfortunately, my health has yet to return to me. I have fevers, nightly, and my stamina is far from what it once was or should be. I used my speech to text program to write this horror story. Having worked on this piece over three days, and over three hours on Thursday, once Part One was finished I faltered. Rather than proof read this story, I rushed to publish then too to rest. Since Thursday evening, shortly after publication of this story, my body was ravaged with aches and pains, my mind clouded with fevers.” Just as the title indicates this article is an update on the title ‘The Horror in Smithville’ and a little status update about me. I explain that I was not feeling well (as I am getting to right now) when I finished writing and published the horror story. That I made the grave mistake of publishingthis article at my blogs without properly correcting them first. Later today (Saturday 3-8-2014) I am going to ADD a video to this article.

.

My Dear Readers that brings this review of all my work, here at The Other Shoe, for this week to a close. Tomorrow, Sunday March 9th, 2014 I will publish a ‘Sunday Funnies’ with a nice little video of Alexander playing in a paper bag. I am quite dizzy, right now, and my fever is peaking. I will do my best to check for errors and publish this article.

Trouble in the Ukraine – Part Four

.

Crimea Close-Up

Crimea Close-Up

.

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. As promised here is the most recent information on the Ukraine. In an obvious reaction to President Obama’s public statements that

.

“President Putin is on the wrong side of history”[1]

.

along with growing pressure from the international community and the majority of the G20 leaders, President Putin has blinked. The world is still awash in mixed messages, and in that regard President Putin is creating other (more personal) concerns… that I will address towards the end of this article. However, Tuesdya’s military actions is clear.

.

“The supreme commander of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, gave the order for the troops and units, taking part in the military exercises, to return to their bases,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying…”[2]

.

Prior to Tuesday’s order, there were close to 150,000 Russian troops, military vehicles and support services along the border of the Ukraine. These troops were, supposedly, part of military maneuvers that curiously coincided with Russia’s Upper House of Parliament voting to give President Putin the authority to use troops and military hardware as he desired without outlining where of why first. Even as President Putin is ordering the troops to leave the border areas, he was still engaged in false bravado in front of the press.

.

This dichotomy, between President Putin’s words and his actions, are causing growing concerns regarding his sanity. It is obvious that President Putin is concerned about the shrinking landmass of the Russian state, and with it the loss of stature in the international community. In 2008, when the country Georgia moved to separate from the Russian nation, President Putin engaged with military troops, too. This is a troubling pattern of behavior, on the part of the Russian President.

.

Regardless of President Obama’s (many and vocal) detractors, it is obvious that the words and actions of our current President (and his working international leaders) has made huge inroads. Inroads towards dissipating this crisis in the Ukraine, and forcing President Putin’s hand towards removing troops from the Ukrainian border areas. As well, even though President Putin is still barking in his comments to the press, he has walked back earlier comments saying the new government of the Ukraine was ;

.

““an anti-constitutional coup and a military seizure of power” in Kiev had led to a situation inside Ukraine that was chaotic and out of control…”

and

“We see the revelry of neo-Nazis, nationalists and anti-Semites that is currently going on in different parts of Ukraine,” Putin said.”[3]

.

The dialogue has toned down considerably since the earlier remarks. Even the voice of the far right, Fox ‘News’, is reporting that these comments are proven false and that President Putin’s actions are not in the best interests of Russia and the Russian people.

.

We are far from having the results most Americans, and most of the international community, want to see. Yet, the dynamics have changed, as has the direction of the inertia in this conflict. I sincerely hope that in the coming weeks, I will be able to report that Russia has removed all troops and that the people of the Ukraine are moving towards membership in the European Union.

.

As I have promised, I will continue to work towards bring you, My Dear Readers, timely and truthful updates to the situation in the Ukraine.

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here and read my work.

.

Thank YOU!

Trouble in the Ukraine – Part Three

.

Crimea Close-Up

Crimea Close-Up

.

Welcome back My Dear Readers to The Other Shoe. First a little personal update, this morning I woke up to a fever… again. It was 99.8 degrees when I woke up and 101.2 by noon. Last night I had the raspy… water-like sounds in my chest, again. I took all the antibiotics, just as prescribed, and this crud has returned anyway. I ache all over, fevers just drive me nuts, and the coughing is starting up.

.

I am going to do my best to write through this episode, My Dear Readers. I just cannot take the hit to my readership that comes with any absence. I have started a little horror story, it is called “The Horror in Smithville”. It is a tale of two middle school aged boys, and their adventures when a carnival comes to town. I started writing right before this crud decided to revisit my chest.

.

I will do my best to get the first part of ‘The Horror of Smithville’ published this week. Right now, I want to write about the changes happening with Russia and the Ukraine. It appears that Russian President Putin has taken leaves of his senses, and putting his nation of poor footing for the future.

.

This morning President Obama addressed the Russian President:

.

““I spent the weekend talking to leaders across Europe, and I think the world is largely united in recognizing that the steps Russia has taken are a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty, their territorial integrity — that they’re a violation of international law, they’re a violation of previous agreements Russia has made with regard to how it treats and respects its neighbors,” Obama said Monday at the White House.[1]

.

The world is “largely united” in condemnation of the incursion of Russian military troops into Crimea. President Obama has made it clear that by putting troops into Crimea Putin has “put Russia on the wrong side of history”[2]

.

President Obama went even further, in his remarks, outlining the course of action the international community will take if Russia continues in its ill-fated course of action.

.

“What we are also indicating to the Russians is, if, in fact, they continue on trajectory that they’re on, that we are examining a whole series of steps — economic, diplomatic — that will isolate Russia. and will have a negative impact on Russia’s economy and its status in the world,” the president said.”[3]

.

Since these comments were made by President Obama, signals coming out of Russia, and Crimea, have become mixed… even confused.

.

“Russia’s Black Sea Fleet chief Aleksander Vitko threatened a full assault if they did not surrender by dawn on Tuesday, the sources said.

However, Interfax news agency later quoted a Russian spokesman denying that any ultimatum had been issued.”[4]

.

This mixed message does little to help Russia’s image in the international community, and calls into question President Putin’s ability to control his commanders. Putin is well known for his statements of bravado, which all too often are later retracted. Ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has (reportedly) asked Russian to use military force in the Ukraine.

.

The movement of two thousand troops on to the Russian base in Crimea was seen to be an answer to this plea for military assistance. However, with two days past since these troops arrived, and no further action or movement has been reported, calls into question Putin’s real motives.

.

With the entire international community prepared to welcome the Ukraine into the European Union, NATO, and eventually the United Nations. It would be a failed strategy for President Putin to involve Russian troops, anymore than they are already. The White House and the United Nations Security Counsel are already drafting economic sanctions and  travel restrictions on Russian Officials.

.

Crimea

Crimea

.

INHO President Putin would be best served by allowing his commanders to look foolish, and taking no further action. He need not remove the troops, now stationed in the Russian Port/Base in Crimea. Just do not use them to further engage the Ukrainian people. The Ukraine has made it abundantly clear that they wish to move away from being a Russian province and are asserting the sovereignty. Allowing the Ukraine to have another vote on their President. Not blocking movement to join the European Union, and not exercising their security counsel vote to block Ukrainian membership into the Untied Nations would be the smart course of action.

.

Well now, My Dear Readers, I am going to get back to resting and trying to get my fever back down. I hope to publish again, soon.

.

As always I am deeply honored that you come here to read my work.

.

Thank you!
